Irish boyband Westlife have announced they are calling it a day after 14 years together.

The balladeers - Kian Egan, 31, Mark Feehily, 31, Nicky Byrne, 33, and Shane Filan, 32 - have sold over 44million albums in their glittering career notching up 14 number one albums and seven number one singles in the process.

Westlife’s previously announced May 2012 jaunt will now be their farewell tour following the release of their best of album ‘Greatest Hits’ on November 21st.

In a statement on their official website, the foursome wrote: “The decision is entirely amicable and after spending all of our adult life together so far, we want to have a well-earned break and look at new ventures.

"Over the years Westlife has become so much more to us than just a band. Westlife are a family. We would like to thank our fans who have been with us on this amazing journey.

“We are really looking forward to getting out on the tour and seeing them one last time.”
